The 8 Metre World Championships will be exciting to watch. The RCYC will have spectator boats available each day for those that are interested in getting out on the water to watch the action.

Friends and family of the competitors will have priority. Remaining spots will be open for R.C.Y.C. members and interested others.Details about where and when to meet your spectator boat and other information about the spectator arrangements will be included in the packages sent to participants leading up to the World Championships and available on this Regatta Website.
Our fleet of spectator boats is growing and we are pleased to share with you another in our fleet. L’Ora is a CS36 named after the afternoon wind in Lake Garda, Italy. It is owned by Sandra Henderson and will be captained by Martha Henderson, 2008 Olympian in the Yngling Class.Lake Garda is the favourite sailing place of Martha Henderson and her father, past ISAF (now World Sailing) President Paul Henderson. Many special times were spent in this beautiful Italian lake so the Henderson’s decided to pay homage to their friends in the naming of this family boat. Martha has grown up sailing on Lake Ontario and around 8 Metre Fleet so she will be able to give you lots of interesting racing commentary.
One of our featured spectator boats, Airswift, has generously committed to the entire event. Airswift is the ideal race watching boat. High enough to get a great view. Fast enough to get in position. And smart enough to stay out of the way of the competitors. Fresh off of its previous assignment as the principal spectator boat for friends and families of the sailors at last summer’s Pan-Am Games, Airswift will be on the water for the races of the 2016 8 Metre World Cup. Owners, Robin Wilson and Mary Baetz of the R.C.Y.C., will be pleased to welcome aboard a maximum of twelve guests each day to go see the 8’s in action.
